The case for buying fewer, better things

Owning less is not deprivation when what remains actually works. Quality is the quiet luxury.

The cheap version is rarely cheaper. It wears out, disappoints, and gets replaced, and the replacements add up to more than the good one would have cost. Buying once, buying well, is the frugal move dressed as a splurge.

There is a calm in it too. A drawer of things that all work is easier to live with than a house of things that mostly do not. Choose slowly, keep what serves you, and let the rest go.
